What Is Nitrogen Inflation?

Standard compressed air is roughly 78% nitrogen already — along with about 21% oxygen and 1% other gases. When you fill your tyres with 'nitrogen', the oxygen is purged and replaced with approximately 95%+ pure nitrogen gas.

The Real Benefits of Nitrogen

• Slower pressure loss: Nitrogen molecules are slightly larger than oxygen molecules and permeate through the tyre rubber more slowly. Your tyre pressure stays stable for longer — studies suggest nitrogen-filled tyres lose pressure about 3–4 times more slowly than air-filled tyres.
• More stable pressure in heat: Oxygen expands more than nitrogen when heated. On a hot Cape Town summer day or at high highway speeds, nitrogen-filled tyres maintain a more consistent pressure, which helps with handling and wear.
